The Students would be inspired with values of Ethics such as, Discipline, Punctuality, Honesty, Truthfulness, Respectfulness, etc. Values of Ethics are very important to a man in leading his life. It shapes the life in the right direction. Proper guidance is given to the students to attain the values of ethics from their very childhood. Proper guidance is also given to the guardians. Poems and jingles are composed on values of ethics, tuned, recorded in a cassette and are given to both the guardians and the students. Our aim is to give utmost importance to the students to help them develop the right base to lead a decent life.

SPECIAL CURRICULA

Life Style Classes are taken according to the following order: Classes V onwards Saturday (2.35 p.m.-4.05 p.m.). The classes cater lessons on how to frame a sound lifestyle.

Adequate emphasis is given on developing the creative potentials of the students say in the fields like drawing, music, drama, dance, recitation and such other creative activities. Reqular classes are allotted in the routine up to Class VIII. Examinations are also held in the Cultural Camp.

Various functions are held on the open stage & on the Nivedita Stage throughout the year. Students participate in various cultural competitions held within and outside the state. Getting prizes by the participants continues. Regular classes on dance and music are allotted up to Class VIII in the routine.

Mukta Mancha. Nivedita Mancha and Open Theatre Manchas: Used for cultural, social, scientific and technological activities. Moreover, organizations Willing to perform socio-cultural functions conducive to the healthy growth of the society, may be allowed to perform on conditions of abiding by some rules at the trust.

This centre aims at making a person attain success in its totality in the qualities of head and heart. This centre provides:

While framing life style, mass stress is given to the ethos of "Learning by doing." The exercise of the same is implemented through the following devices:
There are three gardens-
a) Flower garden
b) Vegetable garden
c) Children's park with rides

Along with General Teaching, the methods of remedial and micro teaching have been introduced. These methods benefit the weak and the meritorious to fare better in the examinations.

With the aim for betterment in the examinations the weak and the meritorious students attend finishing school.
The guardians are to pay a meagre amount for this.

The Vidyalaya has a health centre. The centre examines the Health of the students in order to instill health-awareness in them. It is manned by a doctor and a trained nurse. Guardians are requested to keep the Vidyalaya informed of any chronic disease his/her ward has been suffering from. If the said student is administered a particular brand of medicine, the name of that medicine should be entered into the school diary by the guardian.

Arrangements for Games and Sports and Physical Education are available in the large field of the Vidyalaya throughout Year. Regular classes upto Class VIII are allotted in the routine for games and physical education.

The other games not allotted in the routine are as follows:
a) Indoor games: Carrom, Table Tennis, Badminton etc.
b} Outdoor games: Basketball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Football etc.

Students are lured away from their books by so many distractions. To hook them up to books the library has a big role. Refreshing and regenerative books are within the easy access of the students through home lending as well. There is a qualified Librarian in the Vidyalaya. Regular library classes are allotted in the routine.

a) Books are regularly issued to the students to read daily at home. Students shall have to strictly observe the library rules as are notified on the notice board of the library from time to time.
b) Complete silence befits the Library atmosphere.
c) Students must make the best use of the library by borrowing books and returning those within 15 days from the date of issue.
d)Loss of library books must be compensated for by the borrower.
e) Library exams are taken regularly at the end of the year.

Defaulters are fined Rs.5/- a day. Library class is compulsory.
Students must attend the library classes. Students are to submit their written statements of how they have liked the books borrowed, to the Librarian. Their statement is marked after being assessed and the marks they obtain are shown in the Progress Report of the Annual Examination.

Every guardian will arrange for a home-library in miniature for his/her ward at home. The name Will be 'My Library'. It has been mentioned in the "Guardians/Parents to note" the kinds of books to be kept in 'My Library'. The Vidyalaya will help and encourage for having such a library.

Arrangements are available for helping various household activities with the intention to develop the sense of dignity of labour and sense of self reliance. Students are trained to repair some household electrical appliances, to learn cycling, preparing some items of eatery etc. Regular classes are allotted for the students of Classes V to VII.

Tours and Educative Travels refresh rnjnd and rejuvenate vision. Life becomes dull with mundane affairs. Hence the necessity of Tours and Travels.

a) Local Tours: The Vidyalaya arranges for a tour at least once a year, to visit places of interest in and around Kolkata. Places of educative values are visited and the matters included in the syllabi, are directly introduced. A portion of the expenses incurred thereto is borne by the Vidyalaya. Guardians shall have to pay the amount to be decided by the Vidyalaya for the purpose.

b) Travels: The Vidyalaya arranges for travels outside Kolkata once, a year. The guardians may accompany their wards during this travel. But guardians of Primary Section shall have to go with their wards. In both the cases guardians shall bear their own expenses. Students shall also pay a part of their expenses. Teaching and non-teaching staff accompany the students. Members of the Managing Committee are requested to participate.

Workshop with the teachers, officers and other employees are held regularly. The workshops are conducted by Prof. Subhankar Chakraborty, President of the Vidyalaya. The objectives of the workshops are to show them the well-chalked out directions, plans, instructions on teaching and learning and also to make them aware of the latest technique and methodology of teaching of various subjects.

Arrangements for holding one Mock Test for classes X, XII respectively are made. No fees are taken for this.

Applicants for the post of teachers give demonstrative lessons in front of the students and they are appointed according to the satisfaction of the students.

The Eco Club of the Vidyalaya plays a significant role in developing social awareness movement about greenery and to save greenery. Afforestation festival is celebrated every year in the Vidyalaya.

Classes are allotted to learn magic in the routine for the students of classes VII and VIII.

Classes are allotted to learn Karate in the routine for students of classes IV to IX.

With a view to rendering services to the distressed of the locality and running free night school we have launched a programme to make a pool by storing little drops to be contributed by the teachers, the taught, the employees and the well-wishers of the Vidyalaya.

The following maxim is inspiring to us:

Computer Centre

Computer literacy and training form an integral part of the VIDYALAYA academic schedule for students from classes 1 onwards.

Science Laboratory

The Vidyalaya has Laboratones for Life Science, Chemistry, Geography and Physical Science. Students carry out test and trial here to gain new knowledge.

Vidyalaya Transport

Transport-support for communication from residence to Vidyalaya and Vidyalaya to residence will be arranged. Expenses will be borne by the guardians.

Close Circuit cameras have been installod in every class- room, corridor, main gate, open theatre and in the premises of the Vidyalaya.

Mid-day meals

The Vidyalaya provides square mid-day meals through Jalajoga' & purified drinking water to the students.

Water Plant

A Water Plant has been installed to provide fresh drinking water to the students.

Use of Projector

To make the subject matter easier and more interesting students are taught by using projectors.

Students Welfare

To maintain discipline, there are two committees one formed by the teachers of the Vidyalaya and the other by the monitors of various classes.

Generator

Arrangements of generator service has been made in case of power fault at any time.

Fire Protection

Latest arrangements to extinguish fire are there in the Vidyalaya.

Fee-Concession

Meritorious and promising, but financially handicapped students, are covered under the scheme of Fee- Concession.

Scout & Guide

A Unit of Bharat Scout and Guide has been started. These are organisations of national level.
